Weekend in the studio.

Two days of manic creativity and squishing paint. I am now sleepy and bespeckeled with various colors of acrylic paint. Seven paintings in one state of finished or not and I still have tomorrow to paint before I go and teach my drawing dinosaurs class at the museum.

From the field in almost 8 years ago.

This is a picture of the dreadnoughtus while still all jacketed up in the field waiting for the flatbed truck and front end loader so that it could all start its travels to the USA. There was a press embargo on the animal so I have been waiting to send this stuff out to everyone.

Dreadnoughtus

So this is Dreadnoughtus. It is a large painting 3 feet by 4 feet. Which is a size that I enjoy working in. it lets me get into details which I might gloss over if I was working smaller. The size also makes me keep it loose longer. The two previous images show some of the details I like about this image.

Sorry for the long delay. It has been a while since I have had a working studio space. Any how that is not now the case. You should expect to see a lot more art from me starting now.
This is a fun pen/ink and watercolor sketch that I love for the simplicity. The next post is of Dreadnoughtus which I helped dig up and prepare. The illustration is acrylic on canvas. 

Summer has been a bit crazy. Four weeks in Montana digging with a great crew for wicked cool dinosaurs to just over a week teaching Dinosaur Art in Mongolia. It took me two weeks just to get over the jet-lag.

Any way, here are some fun pictures from my travels. 

 This fella was dead by the time I took this picture but a friend of his made it all the way back to Philadelphia from Wyoming for the Museum's Bug Fest!

 

The two shots above where from Mongolia. The one with the Dinosaur shows all of the students who spent the week learning dinosaur anatomy for artists. I will post more on Mongolia soon along with some of the student art that came about from our lessons.

Hope you enjoyed watching. The time-lapse portion of the video covers about 6 hours of my life drawing in chalk with visitors watching and asking lots of questions. It was a great day!!

Been working on a project for several years off and on. some pieces have been shared here and some on the Book of Faces. The feed back from professionals and fans has been a real driver. Some people have pushed me way out of my comfort zones and caused me to grow as an artist. This last project has been a work in black and white. The project is finished as far as the art part goes unless there are any last hour needs. I am looking forward to finding color again however I will never be able to set the black and white on the shelf.
